Madhuri Dixit’s father, who was 91-year-old, passed away after a prolonged illness, at her Juhu residence in Mumbai on Friday.
The actress said in a statement: “We’ll miss him but we know he has lived a full life. We thank all those who have offered their condolences and prayers.”
Apparently, Madhuri was alerted by the doctors yesterday itself that her dad’s health was deteriorating, and that things may turn out for the worse. The actress was scheduled to shoot the Jhalak Dikhla Ja, season 6 finale. She will now understandably not be able to do so. Sources reveal that Priyanka Chopra was set to fill in for Madhuri as a judge
A source informs, “We were to shoot today also, but it has been called off keeping in mind Madhuri’s loss. Half the portion of the finale episode has already been shot and Madhuri may not be there to shoot for the remaining half.”
Meanwhile, the funeral was held at a crematorium in Oshiwada at 12.30 p.m, today.
“The actress’ father was staying with her. He had been unwell for a while and passed away at their Juhu residence in Mumbai,” Madhuri Dixit’s manager informed.
A prayer meeting is said to be organised in a day or two.
RIP Shri Dixit!
