After a rather lukewarm start on it’s opening day, John Abraham’s latest production Madras Cafe slowly started to pick up the pace over the weekend, resulting in a decent show in the first weekend.
Even before Madras Cafe could release, the film landed itself into a couple of controversies. Starring John Abraham and Nargis Fakhri, Madras Cafe opened on Friday to a below average start of Rs. 5.10 crore net. However, thanks to excellent reviews and word of mouth, the business picked up on Saturday. The collections spiked up to Rs. 7 crore net, marking a 37 percent rise in business. Sunday turned out still better with Rs. 8.25 crore net.
The film’s first weekend collection comes to Rs. 20.35 crore net, which is pretty good.
On the other hand, Shahrukh Khan and Deepika Padukone’s Chennai Express continues to run non stop, thus becoming the highest Bollywood grosser of all time. The Rohit Shetty’s flick presently stands at a whopping Rs. 211 crore net.
The coming Friday sees the release of Prakash Jha’s film Satyagraha.
