We had recently reported that Salman Khan starrer ‘Mental’ has been renamed to Azaad. But the latest we hear is the film ‘Mental’ is neither titled ‘Mental’ nor ‘Azaad’.
Confirms Sohail Khan, who will be producing the film, “Mental was the tentative working title. We haven’t decided on the final title as yet.It is certainly not Azaad,” he said.
On asking the producer a little more about the film, Sohail refrained from answering. However, a member of the film’s crew says the title will be of one word, racy and catchy. Says the source, “Salman likes one-word titles for his film Dabangg, Bodyguard, Wanted, Kick, etc. So it will be within that space only.”
The original film in Telugu was titled Stalin. “Now that’s a catchy, one-word title. It’s a popular name in the South. But in Hindi cinema any title with political relevance is shunned, unless you are Prakash Jha.”
Adds the source, “Salman has asked all his friends to think hard. And we are all going… errr, mental.
Chances are, he will come up with a terrific title before anyone else does.”
A remake of Telugu superstar Chiranjeevi’s 2006 movie Stalin, the story is about an Indian Army Major who takes up a noble way of spreading goodness in the world, and in return asks them to help three more.
Earlier too, buzz was that the film will be titled Jai Ho. Hpowver that didn’t work. The movie is slated for a release on January 24, 2014, two days ahead of the Republic Day, and so the makers have decided to give the film a patriotic title, so as to fit the occasion.
